St. Basil’s NSW & ACT, an organisation established by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, is dedicated to providing quality care and support for ageing Australians. Among their exceptional services, the Day Centres stand as warm and inviting places, where individuals can partake in stimulating programs, savour nutritious meals, and receive appropriate care, including specialised services for those with dementia.
The historic First Pan-Australian Clergy Synaxis was a great success, ending with a dinner hosted by St Basil’s NSW/ ACT of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia at the venue of the Parish of St Spyridon, Kingsford with the evident satisfaction of all for the spiritual interaction and the substantial benefit from this – the first National Clergy Synaxis.

Aged and Community Services Australia, the leading association for the aged care industry, has awarded La Stacey Baramy of St Basil’s Aged Care NSW/ ACT as the 2021 NSW/ ACT Employee of the Year.
St. Basil’s Homes NSW/ACT has been named as a State Finalist in not one but two (2) categories of the 2021 ACSA Aged Care Awards.
During the last month St. Basil’s Kogarah was thrilled to share some amazing testimonials, expressing appreciation for their exceptional work and the level of dedication to the elderly residents in its care.
St Basil’s Homes NSW/ACT continues to keep elderly residents active during these times of social distancing with its comprehensive Lifestyles Activities programme, whilst at the same time adhering to all of the government COVID-19 restrictions.
Residents of the St. Basil’s Homes in the Miranda location recently partied ‘Hollywood-style’ at an event inspired by the Oscars and organised as part of the Lifestyles Activities Program that is available across all of the organisation’s nursing homes. The party starred many lookalike celebrities, featured plenty of food and lots of fun.
Making Christmas extra special this year, St. Catherine’s junior choir visited the St Basil’s Randwick location to perform Christmas Carols for the residents.
Spiro Stavis, newly appointed Acting CEO, has a vision for St. Basil’s NSW & ACT: for consumers to see their lives improve upon joining the St. Basil’s family of programs and services. He speaks about his new role, “I can honestly say that I have never felt so fulfilled in my professional life. I know that every day I make a positive difference in somebody’s life.”
Recognising how fundamental culture is to our lives, St Basil’s NSW & ACT has been offering Greek lessons in cooperation with Modern Greek Studies Program of Macquarie University for non-Greek speaking staff designed to improve the quality of life for seniors in its care.
