Hosted by the Hellenic Studies Foundation, Hellenic Club Sydney, and the Joint Committee for the Commemoration of the Battle of Crete, this historic tour celebrates the deep ties between Greece and Australia.

Greek MPs to Visit Sydney for March 25th Celebrations

A Greek Parliament delegation will visit Sydney for the March 25th National Day celebrations, followed by the Evzones’ participation in ANZAC Week events across Sydney and Adelaide from April 28th to May 4th. The MPs, led by Stavros Keletsi, will engage with community leaders and hold a press conference on March 27th, highlighting the strong Greece-Australia bond.

Sydney: Cretan Community Commemorates Arkadi Holocaust and Celebrates 65 Years of Brotherhood in 2024

The Cretan community in Sydney commemorated the 158th anniversary of the Arkadi Monastery Holocaust and celebrated 65 years of brotherhood with a vibrant evening of remembrance, cultural performances, and heartfelt speeches. The event featured the acclaimed Tzanidakis Folklore Dance Group from Crete, inspiring dance performances, and the presentation of the prestigious “Megalonisos” Award.

In 2015, John and Patricia Azarias established the Lysicrates Foundation to raise funds towards the restoration of the Lysicrates monument and to honour it by holding an annual Lysicrates Play Competition nearby.

The Lysicates Foundation aims to take the ancient Athenian mould to give a platform to world-class theatrical talent, making the Lysicrates Prize the People’s Choice and an iconic event in Sydney’s cultural calendar.
