Boat Coming from Turkish Coasts Pursued by the Coast Guard off Lesvos

A speedboat coming from the Turkish coasts was spotted moving at high speed towards Lesvos and was pursued by three patrol boats of the Hellenic Coast Guard. After a dramatic chase, passengers disembarked on shore, leading to the arrest of two individuals identified as traffickers. A total of 21 foreign nationals were found and taken to a Reception and Identification Center. The investigation is ongoing.

163 Migrants Rescued in 24 Hours Across Three Separate Incidents in Greece

The Hellenic Coast Guard rescued 163 migrants in three separate incidents over the past 24 hours, while a woman was found dead near the island of Kos after a boat capsized. Rescue operations also took place near Gavdos and the Messinian Gulf, with all survivors safely transported to ports. In August 2024, nearly 3,000 migrants were arrested for illegal entry into Greece, alongside 88 traffickers.

A 50-day-old baby was rescued on the Greek island of Tilos after being stranded with a group of migrants for three days, abandoned by human traffickers. The infant's parents were forced to use seawater to make his milk as their resources dwindled. Tilos mayor Maria Kamma highlighted the dire situation on the island, describing it as a "scene of despair" due to the activities of traffickers who leave vulnerable refugees stranded and injured.
