Six Turkish aircraft violated the airspace of Greece at least 138 times on Wednesday, according to Greek media reports.
The Turkish planes entered Greek airspace on Wednesday morning, violating it a total of 138 times during the day, including eight times over Imia and Kalolimnos islands, according to Greek media.
"Greece wants calm and peace between the countries of the region. We are not looking for trouble," Greek Minister for National Defence Panos Kammenos told ANT1 TV on Wednesday. He also added that Greece is ready to respond to any provocations.
The violations came after Kammenos threw a wreath of flowers from a helicopter on Wednesday over the Imia waters to commemorate the three Greek pilots who died on January 31, 1996 during conflict between Turkey and Greece over the ownership of the islets.
