The Greek embassy in London has confirmed that a Greek national was injured during the weekend terrorist attacks in the British capital.

"The British authorities informed us that a Greek citizen was one of the injured in the terror attack. He is being hospitalised and his condition is stable" said the Greek embassy.

The injured man has been identified as Antonis Filis aged 35 from the city of Lamia who had been living in the UK since leaving Greece in 2011 for better employment prospects.

Filis sustained head and knife wounds to his kidney and underwent surgery.

The doctors said to his parents that he is out of danger and is expected to be released from hospital by end of the week.
