A light earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale on Tuesday shook the island of Kythera and the regions of Laconia and Messinia.
According to the Geodynamics Institute of the Athens National Observatory, the quake's epicentre was located in the Laconic Gulf and its depth was six kilometres.
The Euro-Mediterrenean Seismologic Centre said that the earthquake measured 4.8 on the Richter scale and its epicentre was 21 km south of the town of Gytheio, at a depth of 10km.
