Athens launches new Parking phone app

By 6 years ago

Athens city council launched on Monday its new mobile phone app, which allows drivers to book and pay for street parking by phone, making it faster and easier than ever to park your car in the heart of Greece's capital city.

Named "myAthensPass", the app has been operating in a test phase for the last year and has gradually expanded to include all areas of the capital city where drivers are charged to park.

It relates to 10,500 parking spaces, 5,000 spots for residents, 3,500 parking areas for visitors and some 2,000 spots for motorcycles.

Smartphone users can download the “myAthensPass” app through Google Playstore or Apple’s Appstore; charge their credit, debit or prepaid card with the amount they wish, starting from 50 cents, up to 20 euros; they can then choose a parking space on the digital map, the parking duration and simply type in their licence plate number to complete the booking.
