Police arrest traffickers attempting to bring migrants from Turkey to Greece

Greek police arrested two men in Evros river on Sunday for attempting to illegally bring nine migrants with a dinghy from Turkey across to Greece.

According to police, the arrest intercepted the illegal entrance of roughly 10 people that were waiting on the Turkish side of the river.

The suspects were sent to Alexandroupolis prosecutor for further investigation.

In a separate incident, the driver of truck was arrested on Ormenio-Ardanio motorway for hiding in his truck 41 undocumented migrants. The driver did not stop when police signaled and after accelerating, a pursuit followed. Finally, the truck crashed on a parked car. Three of the migrants were injured and were sent to Alexandroupolis general hospital.
