Maria Spyraki, New Democracy's spokesperson and European People's Party MEP is the only Greek politician that has been nominated for the "European Member of Parliament of the year" award.
On twitter she expressed her gratitude for being nominated, stating that she is "proud to represent Greek people in the @Europarl_EN. Honored to be shortlisted for the Industry, Research and Innovation Award. #MEPAwards2019"
Spyraki was nominated on the basis of her "legislation activities and presence in European and international fora."
