Sydney’s 37th Greek Festival at famous Darling Harbour last weekend was a huge success, as over 100,000  people attended the annual event, with two days of non-stop entertainment including live music from local and international musicians, dancing and food.

Nia Kateris, Festival Chair told Greek City Times, “The event was once again a huge success and we received a great response not only from Greeks in the community but also from the wider community of Sydney, who enjoyed the weekend’s festivities.”

“Thanks to all of our volunteers, sponsors and our special guest all the way from Greece, Eleanora Zouganeli, who brought a new level of Greek culture and feel to the Festival this year,” added Nia.

The Sydney Greek Festival is also celebrating the announcement made by the State Liberal Government that they will contribute $400,000 to the Greek Festival of Sydney, which shows how important the cultural event is to NSW says Nia.

The Liberal Party and Australian Multiculturalism Minister Ray Williams pledged that they will be funding the festival $400,00 for the next four years, which is a massive boost to the Festival, which is one of Australia’s largest and longest running cultural event.
