Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras praised Jordan on Sunday for its role as a regional stabilising force during the 2nd Greece, Cyprus, Jordan trilateral Summit that is held in Amman.

Tsipras noted that the cooperation between Greece, Cyprus and Jordan enhances the strategy for the peace and stability prospect in the eastern Mediterranean and stressed the need to jointly address the migration and refugee issue in Syria with EU support.

The Greek Prime Minister also mentioned that the status quo in Jerusalem should be maintained and both the Christians and the Muslims to be protected and reiterated his position for a two-state solution, the state of Israel and the state of the Palestinians.

According to government sources during his meeting with King Abdullah of Jordan, Tsipras praised Jordan and the King's contribution in the addressing of the regional problems. He said that Greece's role is important because it constitutes a pillar of stability for the safe transport of energy sources from the eastern Mediterranean to the European Union. Moreover, he said that Greece can become a bridge between Jordan and the European Union.

Finally, he referred to the two countries' historic bonds and to the new opportunities for economic cooperation, particularly in the sector of constructions.
