Greek team flying in PM's aircraft

By 5 years ago

Greece’s Prime Minister ordered on Thursday that the country’s athletics team travel to Minsk to participate in the European Games in his government aircraft.

The decision came after the Greek athletics federation SEGAS announced that it was pulling the Greek team out of the European Games because it was unable to find airline tickets to get them to Minsk.

After the SEGAS announcement, the Prime Minister made the decision following an initiative undertaken by Deputy Sports Minister Giorgos Vasiliadis and Alternate National Defence Minister Panos Rigas, ordering that the state aircraft be made available to carry the Greek athletes and their coaches to Belarus.
