Greek police say a car trying to smuggle 12 illegal migrants to Thessaloniki, ran through a red light and crashed into a small Yaris vehicle coming from a side street, tragically killing its driver, a 64-year-old Greek man.
Police confirmed one migrant was seriously injured and three others were slightly injured in the accident, which caused a three-car collision on Sunday morning on the old Kavala-Thessaloniki Road at the height of Agios Vasilios Road, Macedonia. Some of the migrants were found in the car trunk.
The driver of the car carrying the migrants has been arrested. Police say he is a trafficker who was taking migrants west, towards Thessaloniki.
