The ordination of Bishop Emilianos on Christmas Day

By 4 years ago

On one of the most important days of the Greek Orthodox calendar, Christmas Day, Bishop Emilianos was ordained at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Sydney, Australia.

The newly ordained Bishop took the name of Emilianos, in honour of his spiritual father, the blessed Elder Aimilianos Simonopetritis.

The Divine Liturgy was led by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church of Australia.

Family members of the new ordained Bishop of Meloe, as well as the Consul General of Greece in Sydney, Mr. Christos Karras and Trade Commissioner of Greece in Australia, Mrs. Katia Gzikiza were amongst those present in the crowded church.

In his address, Archbishop Makarios listed the many spiritual gifts and qualifications the Most Holy Bishop of Meloe possesses, urging him to use them all for the glory of God and for the advancement of The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.
