By 4 years ago

His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of the Greek Orthodox Church of Australia, made His first official visit yesterday to the offices of the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney.

His Eminence was greeted by the Consul General Mr Christos Karras who gave him a tour of the premises and introduced him to Consular staff.

Staff later gathered into the Consul General’s office where His Eminence Archbishop Makarios praised the work of the Consul General and his colleagues and the vital role it plays as a conduit of services between Greek Australians and the motherland.

On his part, the Consul General Mr Karras thanked His Eminence for His official visit since being appointed Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in Australia and reaffirmed his support and close relationship with the Archdiocese in the important liturgy it performs in society and in particular to the Orthodox faithful.

Following the speeches, His Eminence conducted a blessing (αγιασμό) and then cut the traditional vasilopita which resulted in one employee happily winning the hidden coin (φλουρί)!
