Greece's Civil Protection Deputy Minister for Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias on Wednesday announced that police have been ordered to close public access to the main square of the northern Athens suburb of Agia Paraskevi daily from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day.
The decision was undertaken following impromptu "parties" by dozens of young people two nights in a row, who violated social distancing rules.
Hardalias stated that the events that took place in Agia Paraskevi were graver than “just citizens who wanted to relax.”
At the daily press briefing, Health Ministry spokesperson and infectious diseases expert, Professor Sotiris Tsiodras also announced 21 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Greece in the last 24 hours, and 1 new death.
The total Covid-19 infections in Greece stands at 2,663. Some 603 cases were infected abroad and 1,326 in Greece.
Deaths total 147 since the start of the outbreak, while 36 patients are being treated in Intensive Care Units. Another 82 people have so far been discharged from ICUs.
Some 87,052 Covid-19 diagnostic tests have been carried out in Greece since the start of the outbreak.
