The coronavirus pandemic will affect airports, hotels and other aspects of your future trips.

Greece's Minister of Tourism, Haris Theocharis on Friday presented health and safety protocols in response to COVID-19.

The protocols were drawn up by the government in collaboration with The Hellenic National Public Health Organization (EODY).

For flights:

  • Prerequisite for a passenger to board a flight to Greece: he or she must present a current health certificate (within the last 72 hours) stating that they are not a carrier. Without the certificate he or she will be unable to board the flight
  • There will be no empty seats on flights to, from and within Greece. The passenger capacity of all airplanes will be full in order to support airline companies.
  • For flights of up to four hours no food will be served to passengers, only packaged snacks
  • Upon their departure from Greece, tourists will not be tested in order for them to avoid being quarantined in Greece.

For accommodation:

  • The Ministry of Tourism will lease accommodation in every tourist area of the country, which will function as a "quarantine hotel". Tourists who are found to be carriers, will be quarantined there
  • All Greek accommodation units will be obliged to have a contract with a doctor, who will determine, either in person or remotely (telemedicine), whether a tourist should be tested for the coronavirus. All Covid-19 tests will be performed within 6 hours at the latest so that anyone who is tested to be positive can be transferred to a “quarantine hotel”
  • Special training will be provided to staff at each hotel regarding special hygiene rules
  • There will be no buffets in hotels
  • All sunbeds will have a distance between them and also a disposable cover for each beach visitor.
