Six police officers to be tested for Covid-19

By 4 years ago

Six police officers in Athens, along with an unknown number of inmates, were placed into quarantine for two weeks, after one of the detainees tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday.

The Albanian detainee had been at the Omonoia Square police station awaiting deportation to his home country at the time.

After reporting he was not feeling well, he was transported by authorities to Athens’ Sotiria Hospital, where it was confirmed that he was positive for Covid-19.

Police authorities are now disinfecting the entire premises of the police station at Omonoia as a precaution to prevent the further spread of the novel virus.

Since the inmate had been detained first in the Exarcheia precinct, that police station will also undergo a thorough disinfection.
