By 4 years ago

We may have entered September, but the summer temperatures continue in Greece, with daytime highs on the mainland reaching 40°C.

The National Meteorological Service issued a weather warning on Tuesday.

Attica is in for a scorcher, as the week’s highs are expected to be up to 8 degrees higher than the average temperature (31°C-36°C) for this time of year.

Thessaly, Viotia and the eastern Peloponnese will hit 39°C-40°C.

The islands of the eastern Aegean, southern Crete and parts of Central Macedonia will see highs of 36°C-37°C.

Public health officials advise the elderly and those with babies to stay indoors during the day and to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
