World War II munitions neutralised in Monemvasia (VIDEO)

By 4 years ago

The first phase of the neutralisation of munition in the harbour of Monemvasia, Laconia, was carried out last week.

As announced by the Hellenic Navy General Staff, the neutralisation concerns a large number of missiles from World War II.

Once the missiles are retrieved from the bottom of the water, they are transported to a safe location and neutralised in a controlled explosion.

The operation will be carried out in multiple phases until all missiles (over 800) are neutralised.
