COVID-19 test in Greece.
From Monday, those traveling to Greece from abroad, through airports, maritime ports and land borders, will have to take a negative COVID-19 test before arriving.
Flights will be valid as normal and will be allowed, although, airlines schedules may change upon request.
According to the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias, those who enter Greece through airports must present a negative COVID-19 test no older than 72 hours.
Those who wish to enter Greece through the land border must also show a negative COVID-19 test up to 72 hours old.
The measure applies to everyone, without exception, while the controls will be meticulous at all points of entry in the country.
It is noted, however, that there is no restriction on entry for Greeks abroad. However, the negative COVID-19 test for their entry applies.
Meanwhile, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis officially announced a second nationwide lockdown for Greece.
Greece will be officially on lockdown starting on Saturday and for at least three weeks.
He said he chose “to take drastic measures sooner rather than later” after aggressive increase in cases and emphasized that he cannot take the risk of allowing the health system to come under “unbearable” pressure.
The Prime Minister also ensured that Greece has strong economic buffer to deal with a second nationwide lockdown.
