The Hellenic Air Force celebrates Patron Saint Archangel Michael

An event to celebrate the patron saint of the Hellenic Air Force, Archangel Michael, took place at the Dekelia Air Base, in Athens on Sunday.

Greek Defence Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos, Chief of the Greek General Staff General Konstantinos Floros, Chief of the General Staff of the Air Force Lieutenant General (I) George Blioumis, Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Charalampos Lalousis and Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakis, were among those present.

"We are fighting for an even stronger Air Force. Αίεν Υψικρατείν!" Nikos Panagiotopoulos posted.

This year's celebration were carried out in accordance with current public health directions.

Hellenic Air Force

The Hellenic Air Force (HAF; Greek: Πολεμική Αεροπορία) is one of the three branches of the Hellenic Armed Forces. Its mission is to guard and protect Greek airspace, provide air assistance and support to the Hellenic Army and the Hellenic Navy and to provide humanitarian aid in Greece and around the world.
