Aegean Airlines has been certified with the 4-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating by Skytrax, in recognition for its enhanced COVID-19 health and safety measures.
Greece’s largest carrier is among the top 4 carriers in the world to be certified with the 4-star Rating, confirming that it implements the highest standards and best practices proposed by the World Health Organization, ICAO and IATA for the protection of passengers and crew.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have proactively developed effective tools and procedures to enhance confidence and maintain safety for every passenger throughout the entire customer journey. Further and foremost, however, it recognises the commitment and rigorous effort of our crew to implement with consistency and discipline the new travel protocols and hygiene standards so that we continue to provide with care, a high level of service," said Aegean Airlines CEO Dimitris Gerogiannis.
The 4-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating recognises good airport processing standards that include some elements of contactless technology, customer handling, and social distancing protocols for check-in, boarding, and arrival.
It is recalled the airline recently introduced ‘Hygiene Attendants’ who assist passengers to follow all safety measures while boarding, in flight, and during disembarkation.
From 6am on Monday, November 9, domestic flights and commercial and general/business aviation to all airports in the country will be permitted only for essential travel, including for reasons of health, professional/business trips, family reasons (reunification of families) and a return to the permanent place of residence.
There are exceptions including: Hellenic national healthcare system flights, state flights, sanitary flights, humanitarian flights, emergency flights, military flights, fire-fighting flights, Frontex flights, technical landings where passengers do not disembark, ferry flights and cargo flights.
From Tuesday, November 10, all passengers of international flights departing from Greek airports must fill in a Passenger Locator Form.
As of 6am on Wednesday, November 11, travellers entering Greece must present a negative COVID-19 test no older than 72 hours, upon arrival. At the same time, passengers also need to fill in a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) at least a day before arrival, providing information that will include their departure airport, the address where they will be staying and the expected duration of their stay in Greece, among others.
