8-metre dead whale washed up in Piraeus (VIDEO)

An eight-meter-long whale washed up on Wednesday afternoon at the beach of Freattida in Piraeus.

Witnesses of the incident immediately informed authorities and crews from the local municipality rushed to the spot in order to remove the whale from the beach.

An entire operation was set up to remove the whale.

According to the WWF, the whale that washed up on the beach of Freattida is a whale, a species that is characterized as Vulnerable in the Mediterranean and is very rare in the Aegean, especially in areas with such intense marine activity as the Saronic gulf.
