Greek PM meets Eleftheria who climbed Mount Olympus on Marios' back

By 3 years ago

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Eleftheria Tosiou and long distance athlete Marios Giannakou at Maximos Mansion on Wednesday.

Last year, Giannakou conquered the top of Mount Olympus, carrying on his back, in a specially modified backpack, 22-year-old Tosiou, who has mobility problems.

"Stories like theirs give us all the strength to overcome difficulties and set high goals," Mitsotakis posted.

During their meeting, Giannakou and Tosiou offered Mitsotakis a framed banner that was tied to Marios back during the climb, featuring all of the names of the team that helped the pair reach the top of Mt. Olympus.

“When you go through difficult times, you take strength from stories like yours… then you pursue your own goals," the PM added.

When asked about their next adventure, they said that they have decided to go skydiving together, something that the young student with a rare disability always wanted to do.
