Climber Antonis Sykaris is being treated for frostbite after failing to conquer K2 mountain

Greek climber Antonis Sykaris is being treated in a Pakistani hospital and is suffering from frostbite after attempting to conquer the K2 peak of the Himalayas.

K2 mountain has an altitude of 8,611 meters.

The unfavorable conditions did not allow the Greek climber to achieve his goal.

The climber was saved at the last minute as he decided to stop at 7,500 meters, when the temperature reached -40 degrees Celsius.

"Antonis is in the military hospital in Skardu. All procedures and protocols are followed for his full recovery," a post said on his Facebook account.

"He will stay in the hospital tonight and will start tomorrow for Islamabad. We are all looking forward to the hours when he is calm to describe to us the shocking days that have passed," the post added.

Earlier, a video was posted on his account appeared in which he describes how he could not achieve his goal and reach the top of K2.
