In a very impressive ceremony, staff of Mykonos Airport welcomed the first flight of QATAR Airways yesterday, complete with honorary water arches and fire truck sirens.

QATAR Airways resumed regular flights between Doha and Mykonos as of yesterday, marking the beginning of a new travel bubble between Qatar and Greece.

The travel bubble between Doha and Mykonos will mean that fully-vaccinated holidaymakers will be able to travel freely between the countries without the need to quarantine on arrival.

The first of the resumed flights, an A320 aircraft, touched down on the Greek islands yesterday following the short flight from Doha.

“Just under three years since we first launched flights between Doha and Mykonos and despite the huge impact the pandemic has had on leisure travel, this important agreement between Qatar and Greece is hopefully the start of a strong recovery for leisure travel, “ said Akbar Al Baker, Group CEO of Qatar Airways.

“Greece is an important market for us and the Mykonos route was hugely popular following its launch in May 2018. We look forward to a resurgence in that popularity over the coming months.”

The Mykonos route is serviced by an A320 aircraft with 12 lie-flat seats in business and 120 seats in economy.

Qatar Airways will operate three flights a week to Mykonos as Greek tourism resumes as of yesterday, May 14, connecting the Greek island with more than 35 cities in Asia and the Middle East.
