Greeks 'return to life' after lockdown.
As quickly as life as we knew it ground to a halt when COVID-19 hit, it’s now picking up pace in Greece – there's more freedom to shop, socialise and get back to business, albeit with new rules and hygiene measures in place.
Over the weekend, beaches in Athens and Thessaloniki were flooded with beachgoers taking advantage of the sunny weather and freedom of movement (after the recent abolition of SMS for public movement).
Many Athenians rushed to Porto Rafti, Anavyssos and other nearby beaches to take a dip, or enjoy their coffee in a cafe with a beautiful view.
Athens' popular shopping strip Ermou, was also busy with many shoppers.
"We are vaccinated and free to do our shopping as a family because we missed these walks a lot," consumers in Ermou told Protothema.
Most individuals were seen practicing physical distancing and/or hygiene requirements.
Mid-season sales lured consumers to spend their money.
Some individuals also chose to visit a museum or archeological site on the first Sunday of 'freedom'.
Queues formed outside the National Gallery in Athens, with people waiting patiently and keeping safe distances in order to enter.
