Foreign Ministry: Greece will assist Egypt in treating the wounded from Gaza

The Greek Foreign Ministry highlighted their role in pursuing for peace in Israel and the Palestinian Territories, and made a special thanks to Egypt for being the catalyst that achieved a ceasefire.

"We welcome the achievement of a ceasefire in Israel and Gaza, which we hope will enable the consolidation of security and stability in the wider region," the foreign ministry said in a statement.

The ministry highlighted that Greece is a European country with "traditional ties with the countries of the region" and "actively contributes to the promotion of friendship and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East."

They highlighted that Athens achieves this through constant bilateral contacts and multilateral schemes.

"We express special thanks to Egypt, with which we have close ties of friendship and cooperation, for the catalytic role it played in achieving the ceasefire," the statement continued.

Greece will assist Egypt with assistance in treating wounded from Gaza.

Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist group, agreed to a ceasefire to end an 11-day conflict that killed at least 230 Palestinians and 12 Israelis.
