Egypt ready to restore relations with Turkey, but still lot more work needed

By 3 years ago

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Sukri said that his country is ready to restore relations with Turkey following Erdogan's attempts to get closer with Egypt, but hinted that it will be a while before that happens.

"Egypt is ready to restore normal relations with Ankara, but more work needs to be done," Sukri told Bloomberg TV in an interview with Al Ahram newspaper.

"When Egypt is 'satisfied' with the fact that the outstanding issues have been resolved, then the door will be open for further progress," the Egyptian foreign minister said.

Sukri's remarks came hours after the end of the second round of two-day investigative talks between Egyptian and Turkish Foreign Ministry officials, which ended in Ankara on Wednesday.
