US President Joe Biden calls Ecumenical Patriarch to enquire about his health and to promise support

After departing the US on Sunday afternoon for Instanbul, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received a telephone call from the American President late Monday night according to Greek news agency ANA.

According to the media report, President Joe Biden called to enquire about the Patriarch health and to wish him a speedy recovery.

During their telephone conversation President Biden referred to his recent visit to the Vatican, telling the Patriarch that he saw a photo of His Eminence with Pope Francis on the Pope's desk.

For his part, the Ecumenical Patriarch thanked the US President for their meeting at the White House and for the interest he showed in the issues that concern the Patriarchate.

The US President said that the channels of communication will be kept open and that he remains willing to help manage the problems faced by the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
