Stefanos Tsitsipas could be set to ditch father as a coach as new pictures emerge

By 2 years ago

Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas was accompanied by Thomas Enqvist during his Sunday's practice in Rotterdam. Tsistsipas has been working with his father, Apostolos, his entire career.

Tsitsipas hasn't made any official statements, but it seems that he has added Enqvist to his coaching staff on at least a temporary basis.

Apostolos often appears to be giving out tactical tips to his son from his box during matches. On-court coaching is strictly banned on the ATP Tour.

Tsitsipas has received several coaching violations in the past, most recently at the Australian Open, with the issue coming to a head in his fourth-round triumph over Taylor Fritz.

It remains to be seen if this is a temporary or permanent arrangement, and whether it means Apostolos will be stood down from his role or kept on as part of his son's entourage.

The recent controversy about his relationship with his father may have played a part in Tsitsipas exploring different options.

The 23-year-old was given a code violation during his Australian Open semi-final against Daniil Medvedev for receiving coaching from his father, with Medvedev launching into a abuse at the umpire for what he believed had been going on during the match.
