Eagle-eyed tennis fans spotted a key detail in footage of Nick Kyrgios' girlfriend which was taken as she watched him play against Rafael Nadal at Indian Wells on Thursday.

As Costeen Hatzi cheered Kyrgios on fron the stand as he battled the 21-time grand slam champion Nadal, a microphone pack could be seen attached above her back pocket.

Speculative fans and sports reporters took to social media to voice their theories as to why Hatzi would be mic’d up, with many believing it had something to do with a new tennis series being produced by Netflix.

On Thursday, reporter Graham Ruthven tweeted: "Nick Kyrgios' girlfriend is mic'd up for the Netflix docu-series, right?"

"She's wearing a wireless mic pack on her waist. Surely that's what that's about?"

The speculation led some fans to wonder whether it was the presence of the Netflix film crew that was the cause of Kyrgios's more-animated-then-usual performance during the match.
