Greece is hosting the 47th Kastoria International Fur Fair which will see the participation of the largest local and international fur-making businesses while drawing in thousands of visitors from all over the world.

The Kastoria International Fur Fair has undoubtedly made a name for itself as one of the most major fur sector events worldwide.

This comes as no surprise since Kastoria is the source of fur, being the only productive centre in the Western world.

The event is organized by the Association of Fur Producers of Kastoria, Thessaloniki International Fair-Hellexpo, the region of Kastoria and the city itself, and will run from August 25 to 28.Speaking to Athens-Macedonian News Agency, Association President Apostolos Tsoukas said that the fair is "returning to normalcy" following the coronavirus pandemic, and noted a strong interest by visitors despite the negative economic climate globally.

A total of 64 traders and business owners from 40 countries have registered, while Tsoukas noted that visitors are expected from Ukraine and Russia, as well as from China and Korea. The latter's participation follows a business meeting in Greece this year that was organized by Enterprise Greece, the country's trade-promotion agency.

Tsoukas noted that this year's fair will host new designs of professionals and graduates of fashion schools who originate from West Macedonia. "We want to provide an opportunity for young people of our region to promote their creations, and we promised this will become an annual event for fairs to be held in the future," he added.
