A nursing home which hired strippers to entertain wheelchair bound elderly seniors has come under fire for the decision reported The New York Post.

According to the news report, the state-run Taoyuan Veterans Home for retired army personnel in Tawain, paid a stripper to entertain on occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations-an important holiday in Chinese culture.

Video of the unusual entertainment quickly went viral on social media and eventually found an audience that it offended, forcing the nursing home to apologise for choice of entertainment,

In the footage the wheelchair bound elderly men appear entertained and receptive to the idea, clapping along enthusiastically to the show, with one elderly gentleman eventually appearing to cuddle the performer's breasts.

“The intention of the event was to entertain residents and make them happy. We are very sorry for the offence that was caused” said a nursing home spokesman, adding that Mid-Autumn Festival parties had been cancelled at the nursing home the previous years due to the COVID pandemic. To lift residents’ spirits, they arranged for the stripper to perform a show.

However, they conceded that the erotic dancer’s actions were “too enthusiastic and fiery,” and that they would be “more cautious” when planning such events in the future.

They said there was also a more sedate game of bingo and some karaoke in an adjoining nursing hall.
