Two policemen were victims of an attack on Thursday night in Thessaloniki by a foreigner who attacked them with a sharp object and wounded them in the neck.

The attack happened shortly before 8 pm on Monastiriou Street. The two police officers who serve in the Directorate of Foreigners checked the man and then put him in the patrol car.

Then the attacker managed to break the plexiglass partition and injured the two police officers in the neck, probably using the pieces that broke off. The police officers, despite the attack, managed to immobilise the perpetrator.

According to Proto Thema, the attacker is a 45-year-old man originally from Bangladesh.

The photos of the injuries to the policemen published by the president of the Union of Police Employees of Thessaloniki, Thodoris Tsairidis, are shocking as they show an injury very close to the carotid artery, which could have been fatal.

The police officers were taken to the hospital and received first aid, and are in good health.
