The top 16 male players in the world are invited to the Masters 1000 tournament. Kyrgios is presently ranked 13 in the world, a career high, and he also advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Open this year. On October 31 in the French capital, the illustrious tournament's 50th edition begins.
The Aussie was scheduled to compete for the first time, but Italian tennis journalist Mario Boccardi tweeted on Thursday night: "Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from the Paris Masters. Sebastian Korda is in, (Andy) Murray next in the entry list.”
Now there will be fears as to whether Kyrgios will appear again this year, as he builds-up to his home Slam at the Australian Open in January.
Not only will his withdrawal affect the singles draw, but also means the ‘Special K’ partnership won’t be in the doubles. He and Thanasi Kokkinakis, who captured the Australian Open this year, are to be replaced.
