Greek cheeses compete at world cheese awards 2022

The Guild of Fine Food held its 34th World Cheese Awards competition in Wales on November 2nd, 2022, which drew cheesemongers, consumers, and foodies from more than 40 different countries to taste and judge more than four thousand cheeses.

Greek cheese also competed for the title of world’s best cheese at the World but this year none of the Greek entries made it to the Super Gold category, which rewards the World’s 16 Best Cheeses, several products from Greece won acclaims.

In total, Greek cheese producers fetched three gold awards, seven silver, and three bronze.

Greek cheese champions
Menoikio's goat cheese was selected Best Greek Cheese for 2022 in addition to winning gold. In 2021, the same cheese-producing business received a Super Gold award for their organic feta PDO.

"Gold is back!" On its Facebook page, Menoikio posted happy images.

Greek Delight backs the country
The aged barrel feta made by Arvanitis S.A. and the organic anevato cheese made by Kourellas S.A. both received gold medals in various categories. Both cheeses have protected names for their origin (PDO).

Graviera, kefalograviera, and manouri cheeses, as well as additional feta and goat cheese brands, were among this year's Greek cheese silver and bronze winners.
