By 1 year ago

From the team behind F1: Drive to Survive, Break Point follows a diverse group of tennis players on and off the court as they compete in gruelling slams with hopes of winning a final and even bigger dreams of becoming world number one. Break Point gets up close and personal with top players on the tennis circuit through an entire year travelling across the globe for all four Grand Slams and the ATP and WTA tours.

A Netflix docuseries, "Break Point", will debut on Jan. 13, three days before the 2023 Grand Slam season starts at the Australian Open.

Netflix revealed the title and launch date on Wednesday when it released a 30-second teaser.

The first five episodes - focusing on Melbourne Park, Indian Wells, Madrid and Roland Garros - will be available next month. The season's other five instalments - which look at Wimbledon, Eastbourne, Queens Club, the U.S. Open, WTA Finals and ATP Finals - arrive in June.

Break Point gets up close and personal with a bunch of rising talent over a year of competing in the ATP and WTA tours. Players featured include Grand Slam champions Iga Swiatek and Sloane Stephens and Grand Slam runners-up Nick Kyrgios, Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Matteo Berrettini and Ons Jabeur. Also appearing: are Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Ajla Tomljanovic, Paula Badosa, Thanasi Kokkinakis, Aryna Sabalenka and Maria Sakkari.

Following a golden age of greatness and some of tennis’ biggest icons reaching the twilight of their careers, Netflix says the series will serve as a ‘chance for a new generation to claim the spotlight. Unfortunately, this was the streamer’s clever way of revealing legends such as Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal won’t be featured.

Made by Box to Box Films with Paul Martin and James Gay-Rees serving as executive producers, the series will also include interviews with Paul Annacone, Chris Evert, Patrick Mouratoglou, Toni Nadal, Martina Navratilova, Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova.

Part One of Break Point will launch with five episodes on January 13, 2023, with an additional five episodes following June 2023.
