Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias visits Ghana to donate a basketball court to be named after Giannis Antetokounmpo

Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias visited St. Nicholas’ Greek School in Tema, Ghana, Africa. He donated to the school which included the building of a new basketball court he would like to be called after the Greek Nigerian Basketball hero.

About the St. Nicholas’ Greek School in Tema

St. Nicholas is run entirely by voluntary donations and receives no state funding. The first school building was built with a grant from the Maria Tsakos Foundation on land donated by the Tsakos Group. It was opened in February 2012 with two classrooms.

To date, the basement and ground floor of the school are complete, housing six classrooms, a library and a computer room. In 2018 Mytilineos SA, a Greek company of international scope, donated the school canteen (building and equipment) for 150 children to have their daily meals, which are provided free of charge by the school. In 2019 Mytilineos SA also donated 6 rooms on the second floor of the main building, which can accommodate 120 students. Three of them, fully equipped were inaugurated in 2019. The remaining three will be completed in the first quarter of 2021, as due to Covid-19 the school remains closed.
