"Our escapade soon turned dark when we encountered the relentless and pushy waitstaff at DK Oyster. Lured by the prospect of complimentary sun beds and an umbrella, we were informed that we only needed to meet a two-drink minimum.
"Unwittingly, we ordered two mango daiquiris, a delectable serving of calamari and Tzatziki, and bottled water. When the time came to settle the check, we were utterly astonished to find it amounted to a staggering €288. The two drinks alone accounted for €116, while the calamari, sold by the gram, contributed a whopping €148 to the total. Protesting proved futile, and we reluctantly paid the exorbitant bill using my credit card.
"To our dismay, the charge that appeared on my account was a jaw-dropping €,1,616 equivalent to $1811 USD. The so-called "free" sunbeds had become an extravagant financial trap." said Gonzales.
Earlier this month, Tripadvisor added a warning to its website review page for DK Oyster Bar after an outpouring of complaints ranging from rip-off prices to bullying tactics used to force customers into paying up. “Tripadvisor has been made aware of recent media reports or events concerning this property, which may not be reflected in reviews found on this listing,” its warning says. It comes after endless customer disputes with the restaurant’s owner and managers, mostly involving foreign tourists being charged eye-watering amounts for a “portion” of food and drinks.
