Tsitsipas earned a break in the sixth game to win the first set 6-3. The Greek player never looked back in the second set and broke twice in the first and fifth games to seal the second set 6-2.
Tsitsipas entered the 2022 season with a 1-3 deficit in his head-to-head matches against Coric, but he beat his Croatian opponent three times at the United Cup, in Rome and Los Cabos to lead 4-3.
“Once again. It’s joyful playing on this court. I made myself feel very comfortable today. I am very happy with that. It’s not easy under these circumstances to reach that level of comfort. I am really happy with the way things things were put together”, said Tsitsipas.
Tsitsipas set up a championships match against Australia’s Alex De Minaur, who converted seven of his nine break points in his 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-1 win over Dominik Koepfer to reach his 13th ATP Tour final.
Tsitsipas leads 9-0 in his previous head-to-head matches against De Minaur, including a 6-4 6-2 win in the Barcelona quarter final last April. The Greek player beat his Australian rival in the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan in 2018.
“It’s a brand new match for me. De Minaur is someone that has played a lot of matches this week, so he is on a good run. So I am. I am going to try and put up a fight out there and give it my best shot. Tomorrow is a big fight for me”, said Tsistipas.
