Both Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis of Greece and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan have agreed to restart the political dialogue between their countries, as well as focus on a positive agenda and Confidence Building Measures.
The roadmap for these talks will include three levels: political dialogue, implementation and strengthening of Confidence Building Measures, and talks on promoting positive cooperation in various sectors. The ministers aim to resolve any potential issues between the two countries, release tension, and prevent dangerous situations. They also plan to prepare meetings between the leaders of both countries and establish a strong political mandate. Important milestones include the meeting between Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis and Turkish President Erdogan on September 18, as well as the organization of the High Cooperation Council in Thessaloniki later this year. Both ministers have expressed a desire for a positive period of dialogue and share the same views on resolving differences through diplomatic means.
