The crew of the tanker M/T ST. NIKOLAS was visited today, with permission from the Iranian authorities, by the local correspondent of the insurance body (P&I Club) of the ship's management company, Empire Navigation Inc.

The ST. NIKOLAS is currently at anchor in Bandar Abbas, Iran.

According to the company's latest announcement, the representative met with the crew members to provide all necessary assistance and confirmed that all sailors are safe and in good health. The Greek-owned tanker has a crew of 19, including a trainee Greek captain. Satellite communications with the vessel are still down.

It should be noted that the ship was seized by a group of armed men while it was sailing loaded with about 145,000 metric tons of crude oil. The ship had departed from Basra in Iraq and was headed to Aliaga in Turkey via the Suez Canal.

As reported by Iranian media, the ship's cargo was seized following a court order by the Iranian navy.
