The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Tuesday the nominations for the 96th Academy Awards, which will be presented at the award ceremony on March 10, 2024. The host will be the well-known comedian Jimmy Kimmel for the fourth time.
The film "Oppenheimer" by Christopher Nolan has 13 nominations, followed by "Poor Things" by Yorgos Lanthimos with 11, with the Greek director also claiming an Oscar for directing. This is the second time Lanthimos will claim the Oscar for best director after his nomination in 2019 with the film "The Favourite".
In the nomination race, "Killers of the Flower Moon" follows with ten nominations and "Barbie" with 8.
