The Greek defeated Aleksandar Kovacevic 7-6, 6-3 and will face former World No.2 Casper Ruud for a place in the final.

Tsitsipas, ranked No 11, will play Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed, next. This is only the Greek player’s second tournament of the season after reaching the fourth round at the Australian Open in January.

Tsitsipas dropped out of the top 10 this week for the first time in five years but could return to the top 10 with a win over Ruud.

In the previous round of the Los Cabos tournament, the Greek won against Australian Aleksandar Vukic (6-3, 6-0).

Kovacevic, ranked No 100, won against qualifier Brandon Holt (6-1, 6-4) and edged out Australian Rinky Hijikata (6-3, 4-6, 6-4) earlier in the week.

Tsitsipas and Ruud have faced each other thrice on the pro circuit (two times at the ATP level). The Greek holds a 2-1 lead in their head-to-head but this will be their first meeting since the 2021 Canadian Masters.
