Maria Sakkari will be in action on Day 5 of the 2024 Charleston Open
CHARLESTON, South Carolina (April 6) - Maria Sakkari is gearing up for a tough battle against a red-hot Danielle Collins in the semifinals of the Charleston WTA tournament.
Coming off one of her slowest starts to the season in years, Sakkari has found her form in a big way. After a string of early losses, she's won 10 of her last 12 matches, a resurgence that has propelled her into her second semifinal of 2024 – a first for the Charleston tournament.
Collins, who recently claimed the Miami Open title, has continued her winning ways in Charleston, not dropping a set so far. Sakkari acknowledges the challenge ahead but remains confident in her own abilities.
“We know she’s playing extremely well right now,” said Sakkari. She just won Miami, and she’s winning here pretty comfortably.
Despite recognizing Collins' current form, Sakkari emphasizes her own positive mindset.
