Stefanos Tsitsipas overcame a mid-match slump to defeat Alexander Zverev 7-5, 7-6(3) at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters. The Greek looked dominant early, leading 7-5, 5-0, but Zverev fought back to level the second set.
Tsitsipas regained control in the tie-break and secured the victory after two hours and six minutes. It was his first win over a Top 5 opponent this season.
The 25-year-old will face Karen Khachanov in the quarter-finals. Tsitsipas has a strong record in Monte-Carlo, having won the title in 2021 and 2022.
Zverev is a two-time semi-finalist in Monte-Carlo. He has won 21 tour-level titles, including seven on clay.
