Former Marathon Mayor Ilias Psinakis narrowly escaped serious injury in a car accident early Monday morning. The incident occurred while Psinakis was driving alone on a rural road near his home in Marathon. To avoid a head-on collision, he swerved to the side, causing his car to leave the road and strike a utility pole.

Athens, Greece – Former Mayor of Marathon Ilias Psinakis narrowly escaped serious injury in a car accident early Monday morning, October 7th. The incident occurred while Psinakis was driving alone on a rural road near his home in Marathon.

According to local authorities, a large truck travelling in the opposite direction attempted to overtake another vehicle, veering into Psinakis' lane. To avoid a head-on collision, the former mayor swerved to the side, causing his car to leave the road and strike a utility pole.

Fortunately, Psinakis was quickly attended to by his security detail, who were following close behind. With the assistance of paramedics, he was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. While the accident was traumatic, Psinakis is reportedly in stable condition and has sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The local police department is investigating the accident to determine the exact cause and any potential contributing factors. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent similar incidents.
