Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated on Sunday that Greece will implement a cap on bank fees for money transfers. Additionally, individuals will face no charges when paying their bills.
The government concluded that previous efforts by financial institutions to lower administrative costs for their customers were insufficient, Mitsotakis explained to lawmakers during discussions on the upcoming year's budget. He revealed that bank fees for money transfers up to €5,000 will be capped at €0.50 ($0.52), and there will be no additional charges for clients settling bills or state obligations.
